Brick Painting FAQs

Should I paint or limewash my brick?

Painting gives a solid, opaque, modern finish. Limewash gives a soft, muted, European patina that ages gracefully and can be partially washed off for a weathered look. Both are breathable. We help you choose based on the look you want.

Does painting brick damage it?

No — as long as you use a breathable, masonry-specific paint and proper prep. The risk is using non-breathable paint, which traps moisture and causes the brick to spall. We use mineral-based or specially formulated masonry paints that allow the brick to breathe.

Can painted brick be reversed?

Limewash can be pressure-washed off within the first few days, or it naturally weathers over time. Painted brick is very difficult to remove — it's essentially permanent. If you're unsure, we recommend limewash first, which is more forgiving.

How long does brick painting last?
